The Ascendancy
Your standing in the court, earned through what you give to it. Every faction climbs the same ten steps — a Werewolf Legend and a Vampire Antediluvian are equally Eternal.
How your Ascendancy grows
Posting, commenting, writing in Penny Dreadfuls, attending events and gatherings, being noticed by others (Blood Drops) and — for vendors and creators — sales and views all feed your standing. Admins can also grant a floor for special founders.
Ascendancy vs. Character Rank
Ascendancy is your real standing on this site. Character Rank is your roleplay — the rung your character holds in their own faction. Play a lowly Childe with an Eternal Ascendancy if you like; you choose your Character Rank on your profile, under your Gothic Name.
Major factions, minor factions & super rank
Major factions (Vampire, Mage, Werewolf, Witch, Warlock, Wraith, Changeling, Succubus) can climb all ten steps. Minor factions (Ghoul, Familiar, Mortal, Hunter) are servant or mundane roles and cap at Adherent. On rare occasion a Familiar is granted a super rank — Eternal, but explicitly outside the Court's hierarchy, never earned by climbing it.
